Textured floors may look nice, but in hospitals they are quite loud (and bumpy) when moving a stretcher over them.
This video compares the sound of a relatively new & expensive stretcher over a brick floor vs flat vinyl.
The transport would have been louder if IV poles and a ventilator accompanied it.
Some may argue that parts of the hospital are 'off limits' to stretchers; that stretchers should take routes not in public areas (where one may find textured floors). However, in practice codes are called everywhere within the hospital.
